Cold nights but hot food this November

November is an exciting month in the hospitality Industry, most kitchens are putting the final touches on their Christmas teams and bracing themselves for the turkey dinners!! Though right now we are still focused on earthy autumnal flavors .

This month there is a lot going on, the Collins King team will be attending the Caterer.com awards, Hotel CATEY’S on the 24th as well as the Craft guild of chefs business lunch on 17th November.

Already opened this month are some exciting ventures in the Bloomberg Building,  Bleecker Burger and Caravan. Soon to open this month will be Duddles in Southwark.

Christmas is coming, its time to get ready! Kitchens across London are looking for chefs to join their brigades in time for Christmas and the new year.

The first frosts are upon us with the late summer frutis and berrys disapearing we welcome the sweetest parsnips, pumpkins and Jerusalem artichokes perfect for a slap-up roast, harty soup. Sweet roast chestnuts and juicy satsumas also come in to their best this month.

If our chef team were to produce a seasonal menu for November it would include dishes such as:

Truffled Jerusalem artichoke soup with soft poached egg

On Sunday we took up an invite to The Wigmore, the new ‘modern British tavern’ launched by The Langham Hotel, for an afternoon of ‘eating & boozing’ – and what a fantastic afternoon it was. A room full of chefs and their partners sipping on homemade punch and dining on good, hearty Sunday food! A selection of ‘snacks’ from the bar menu to start us off, followed by Lamb Hot Pot & then Sticky Toffee puddings. Chris King (Executive Chef) and his team delivered a fantastic meal enjoyed by, among others, Monica Galetti, Cherish Finden, Jun Tanaka, Adam Handling, James Knappett, Neil Rankin and Michel Roux Jnr – who proved that you can’t believe everything you read on social media, by encouraging us to post photographs of the food!
If you haven’t been already, then The Wigmore is definitely one to check out – The ‘modern British tavern’ brief was certainly met – Just be sure to book as it really does fill up!
